Crossing the square, you literally can’t miss Neongeheimen – Dutch for ‘Neon secrets’ – by Marijke de Goey. This large artwork consists of 49 glass cubes of varying heights scattered across the square. Inside each one is a neon figure, magically illuminated after dark. Created in 1992, De Goey’s inspiration for the work was The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. In this modern fable, the main character travels from planet to planet in search of the light.
